Changing Size and Rotating

Choose General->Models->Add / Change / Delete.

Type model code 2009 and press OK.

You are now in the model window. Choose the menu option Item->Add Piece.

The mouse pointer has changed to + (crosshairs) and on the window title you can read: INDICATE BEGINNING POINT OF NEW PIECE.

Click with the left mouse button on 3-F.

A small red point has appeared there and on the window title you can read:

INDICATE END OF LINE.

Click with the right mouse button on 3-B.

A red line has been drawn between both points and on the window title you can read again: INDICATE END OF LINE.

Click with the right button on 11-B.

Click with the left mouse button on 17-F.

Press Esc or choose Drawing->Abort Current Operation.

The mouse pointer has changed to its original shape. You are no longer drawing the model.

The piece you have just drawn is in red, and on the window caption you can read:

DRAWING MODE, Working with ITEM: Piece[1]

If the word ITEM isn't included in the window caption, press F2 until it is included.

Before scaling the piece we are going to tell the program what point of the piece must be taken as a reference.

Remember from last chapter: If you click with the LEFT button on the beginning point of a member, then that point is the reference point. If you click with the left button on the end point of a member, then the end point of the member is the reference point.

Click on 11-B. This way we indicate the end point of the second member (11-B ) as the reference point and the second member as the reference member. If we had clicked on 11-B we would certainly mark this as the reference point but the reference member could be the second or the third, depending on the exact position.

Choose Item->Change Size.

The second member has changed color to pink. The mouse pointer has changed to + (crosshairs) and has been placed on 11-B. On the window title you can read: INDICATE NEW SIZE OF THIS SEGMENT.

Click with the left mouse button on 9-B.

As you see the piece has changed size proportionally to the reduction in size you have indicated for the member in pink.

Click on the beginning of the first member, which should be 3-E, to mark that point as a reference.

Choose Item->Change Size.

The first member has changed color to pink. The mouse pointer has changed to + (crosshairs) and has been placed on 3-E. On the window title you can read: INDICATE NEW SIZE OF THIS SEGMENT.

Click with the left mouse button on 3-F.

As you see the piece has changed size proportionally to the increase in size you have indicated for the member in pink, and now the piece should have returned to its original size.

Choose Item->Rotate.

The first member has changed color to pink. The mouse pointer has changed to + (crosshairs) and has been placed on 3-F. On the window title you can read: INDICATE ROTATION ANGLE.

Click with the left mouse button on 1-F.

As you see the piece has rotated with the same angle as you have indicated. Remember that, the same as with the change size option, the pink member is used as a reference.

Choose Item->Rotate.

The first member has changed color to pink. The mouse pointer has changed to + (crosshairs) and has been placed near 1-F. On the window title you can read: INDICATE ROTATION ANGLE.

Click with the left mouse button on 3-F.

The piece should have returned to its original position.

You can try by yourself the option Item->Change size in one direction.

Its very similar to the Item->Change size option, but it only increases or decreases size in the same direction as the pink member which is used as a reference. That means, for instance, Panerai Replica that if the reference member is vertical, then the piece only increases or decreases its height.

Once you have started any of these operations, when the mouse pointer is in crosshairs (+), you can abort it by pressing ESC or choosing Drawing->Abort Current Operation..

To mark the destination of rotate and change size operations we have used the mouse, pressing its left button. You can also use keyboard input as was explained at the end of the moving and copying chapter.

Choose File->Exit.
